Child/Adult Workshop: Magical Glass: A Hands-on Workshop Exploring Stained Glass
Sunday March 24, 3 - 4:15pm
The world of stained glass will come alive for you and your child in this fun, interactive workshop at St. Peter’s Chapel on Mare Island. The session will start with a look at the Chapel’s luminous stained glass windows, which include 25 by Tiffany Studios, as the children learn how they were made and what stories they tell.
Next, in celebration of Woman’s History Month, they will enjoy a fun story reading session about Marietta Barovier, who in 15th century Venice began creating art with glass as a small girl, growing up to become that city's first woman glass artist. She created the beautiful multi-colored rosetta bead which soon became famous throughout the world. After the story session, children will make their own tissue paper stained glass window, complete with a rosetta pattern!
The class is limited to 12 children – so reserve your space today!
This workshop is co-sponsored by Alibi Bookshop in downtown Vallejo.
Tickets: $15/child.
MIHPF members receive a $5 discount.
